ABOUT MARK RUTT
Since a young age I have always been intrigued by art & design. I’ve developed a fascination with advertising, culture, and the media, and how it is affected by trends in design and style. As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to create unique and innovative designs that transcend the fine-art realm and enter into the everyday world. The ability to affect and influence potential thousands of people is one that continues to make me strive for perfection. My influences include artists and styles spanning many mediums, including Ansel Adams, Chuck Close, Minimalism, Bernini, Paul Rand, and Edward Weston. My artistic background is ever changing and evolving. From an early desire towards fine-art photography, to graphic and interactive design, with a dream to one day succeed as a furniture and home décor designer, I feel my abilities and skills are all encompassing. Feel free to approach me about any project, however unique and small, or large and ordinary it may be. I ensure you I will put my own special creative touch on whatever you throw at me.
In December of 2006, I graduated with honors from Millersville University with a Bachelor's degree in Art with a concentration on Graphic Design. While there I trained in all aspects of art from drawing to 3-D, multiple classes in film photography, to a wide array of computer design classes. I feel that it is very important to have a broad range of talents and abilities in this industry to enable myself to accomplish any task to the utmost. While finishing up at Millersville, I gained real world experience working for Quarryville photographer John Haneman. At the same time, I began an internship at Kedash Design in Kennett Square. This wonderful opportunity has turned into a full-time job, and has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as the opportunity to work on some amazing projects with great clients. In October of 2008, I took position within the Marketing Department of Dansko Inc. as a graphic designer.
I hope to continue on with my photography in the upcoming months, something I haven't had quite enough time or lately. Take a look at some of my work and let me know what you think. You can see my photography at www.markrutt.com.
